This is where you can find ideas for potential responses to the towers! Contributors can suggest ideas for other contributors to make, or to offer up as inspiration...
- A jungle gym based on the shapes of the towers
- Towers jewelry
- Giant tower plushie
- A full set of the 18 towers, at a scale where I can walk among them like Godzilla
- Tower cat tree
- A fish tank with towers as decoration, underwater of course
- A tower made of paper
- Live feed of tower installation underwater
- A very tiny miniature
- I would love to see something exploring the idea of roots and rootlessness: the towers temporarily standing in Leith, while each already belongs to a particular point in the sea. Perhaps an artwork imagining the invisible roots they might have grown beneath the port while waiting to leave.
- A photo calendar
- A foccaccia in the shape of a tower
- A series of photographs showing the towers from different everyday viewpoints around Leith , particularly from buses, bus stops, roads and ordinary streets rather than conventional viewpoints.
- A sound piece built from the changing noises around the towers: traffic, buses, gulls, harbour sounds, wind and people passing by.
- A collection of hand-drawn "mental maps" showing where people think the towers are in relation to the places they know.
- A project documenting the different nicknames people have given them, along with what they thought the structures actually were before they found out.
- A simple photographic record of the empty spaces they leave behind after they depart... showing how quickly something enormous can become invisible once it is gone.
- Life size papier mache
- A stop motion animation where they come into town for a nice time/an invasion (take your pick)
- A spaghetti tower
- A model made out of upcycled materials
- Parkour
- Memes
- Yellow jacket circus
- I would love to see someone reinterpret the towers through a completely different visual language — for example, reducing their forms to abstract shapes, translating them into sound or movement, or exploring how their appearance changes through different weather, times of day and perspectives. I am particularly interested in responses that blur the boundary between the towers and their surrounding landscape.
- A piece of music to the beat of the 3/4 rhythm of the red lights they pulse at night
- Collage! Sculpture!
- Drawings on individual yellow “post it’s,” as it’ll soon they will be “posted” away bye bye lovely things.
- I think we should have a street party on the day the first and last one leaves - sort of like the summer and winter solstice at Stonehenge. Lighthouse park would be a good place to say farewell. Maybe an open art show!
- Timelapse of the towers through sunrise and sunset
- Lino printing of the towers using actual traffic yellow
