About this project

In early 2026, 18 mysterious yellow towers appeared in the Port of Leith. And from autumn 2026, one by one, they will begin to make their way back out of the port.

These wind turbine jacket foundations are massive, imposing, confusing, friendly, overwhelming, strange or comforting, depending on who you ask. We’re simply OBSESSED with them and everything they could represent. This project is an opportunity for artists and locals to respond to these creatures while we can still see them...before they head away to do their real jobs in Inch Cape.

Yellow Towers is a community art project in progress. We are currently searching for an exhibition space for the work. Watch this space. We’ll give the towers a proper send-off.

This is a project led by Christina Neuwirth and Maria Stoian for Onion Press. This website is a work in progress.

Onion Press is an Edinburgh-based small comics press. We are all about using comics to explore the world around us, its histories and secrets, with a touch of silly along the way.
